We played through the free version and the kids liked it so much and the kdis learned so much from it that I was happy to purchase the paid version so they could keep playing. There is a free and a paid version of 99 cents and itвЂ™s available on iTunes or through Google Play. We highly recommend Stack The States to parents and kids alike. Logan said itвЂ™s one of his favorite parts. They are beautiful and eye catching and each one has a short description for the kids so they can learn about the location.

When I was getting the screenshots for this review I was also impressed by the images in the background. The kids also enjoy the вЂњLearnвЂќ button where they can touch on a state and read all about it in flashcard form: They donвЂ™t always say everything out loud and it would be nice if they could click the word and hear it pronounced correctly if they needed the help. They are always saying вЂњArk вЂ“ KansasвЂќ for Arkansas for example. I always try to correct the kids when they pronounce a state or capital wrong. The only thing feature I wish it had was an option to have certain words verbalized. IвЂ™m excited that the kids love the app so much and are learning a lot from it. The app developer has really done an amazing job making learning fun. I could share more about the app, but IвЂ™ll let Kora & Logan show you how it works and tell you why they like it: ItвЂ™s a cute reward that the kids love, they are always so happy each time they earn a state. When the kids answer a certain number of the questions correctly they earn a state that goes into a map of the United States. Other features of the game that the kids think are fun is when it asks multiple choice questions including: They havenвЂ™t addressed it at school either. The reason I found this so amazing is because he is only 1st grade and we have not done anything to teach him the shapes of the states yet. I was amazed that Logan was able to match every single one and quickly too. Instead they tumble from the top and pile up haphazardly. While I was watching him play it one of the mini-challenges is to match the shape of the state with itвЂ™s name. I knew the kids liked this app and had heard that it was a good one, but the other day when I was sitting next to Logan and he was playing it something happened that made me want to feature it as an App of the Week. Stack The StatesВ is a fun app that is changing that for kids and itвЂ™s one of Kora & LoganвЂ™s favorites. Most of the bonus games are timed and can feel frenzied 'Puzzler' and 'Capital Drop' are both quite tricky, even on lower levels.Geography is important to learn but itвЂ™s usually not usually a favorite subject for many kids. As the collection grows, kids earn bonus games. When kids reach the goal, their reward is a state to add to their collection. The goal is to stack as many states on the platform as necessary to reach a goal line without the pile tipping over. When kids answer correctly, they earn that state to stack on a platform. The games ask trivia questions about a state or ask kids to identify the shape of the state. If flashcards aren't your students' favorite thing, they can learn by simply playing the games on Stack the States. Each state's flashcard includes information about postal abbreviation, capital city, nickname, border states, major cities, landmarks (some states don't have any listed), and whether it borders Canada or Mexico.
